July 2018 Recap

New Fall Sports

This fall, SHRC has teamed up with other local communities to bring youth flag football and youth volleyball to Spring Hill! We are very excited for this opportunity and we hope that the community is too! Registration is open until the middle of the month for both sports so don't miss out. Big Truck Day

Our annual Big Truck Day event is one of our favorite events here at SHRC! We love working with local businesses and emergency services to create fun events for the local kids to get to see a new side to the vehicles that they see on a daily basis on the streets! We had 14 vehicles this year and around 250 kids that came through!

 LTD Summer Basketball Camp

We hosted the Livin' the Dream Summer Basketball Camp again this year! This camp is a great way to let kids continue to enjoy basketball even during the off season! They all had a great week!

Spring Hill Park and Rec Fest

July is National Park and Recreation Month and we celebrated in a big way! We partnered with the City of Spring Hill to bring the community a fun morning outside at the SHRC Sports Complex! We had a ton of fun activities available like live music, food trucks, yard games, water guns to play with, bounce houses, chalk, bubbles, and disc golf! Johnson County Fire District #2 came to spray the kids down with a hose sprinkler from their truck and the Spring Hill Police Department was there to hand out goodies along with the National Guard!

Tunes and 'Toons Series: Run With It and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Last summer we had movies in the park and we realized that some of the movie times had to be very late due to the sun not going down until late. So, this year, we decided to add another fun element to help it start earlier: concerts! Once a month, May-September we will have a concert (Tunes) followed by a movie ('Toons) in the park over at Middle School North by the old concession stand. Bring a chair or your favorite pillow and blanket and come spend a Friday night with SHRC!

The third event kicked off with a pop rock band called Run With It. They played a fun set on the beautiful Friday night! Then we wrapped up the evening with a showing of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle! The next one is scheduled for August 4th right after the Spring Hill Aquatic Center's 6th Annual Family Luau and will just be a showing of Sherlock Gnomes!
